Dubai: Emirates Islamic Bank donated Dh3 million to Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA’s) Mousaadah (assistance) Committee.
The funds will be used to set up a mammography unit in Hatta Hospital and provide the DHA’s rehabilitation centre with the latest physiotherapy machine that helps stroke patients regain their ability to walk.
Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, chairman of the board of the DHA, said: “This contribution will help us install the latest medical equipment which will lead to better patient outcomes. Over the years, Emirates Islamic has contributed to several of the Mousaadah committee’s initiatives and has helped fund treatment for those with financial constraints. We are thankful to them for their support and contribution.”

The financial aid to DHA follows similar initiatives by the bank to health-care institutions in the UAE in recent years. This is in keeping with our objective to support charitable causes via a dedicated Zakat Fund.”
Elaborating on the allocation of funds, Salim Bin Lahej, Director of the Mousaadah committee, said: “Of the Dh3 million, Dh1.65 million will be used to set up a mammography unit in Hatta hospital and Dh1.35 million will be used to procure the physiotherapy machine.”
Bin Lahej added the physiotherapy machine known as GEO system robotic gait trainer, is a state-of-the-art machine to help stroke patients regain mobility. It provides them with a visual scenario and offers the possibility of augmented reality which further enhances each therapy session.
